The Role

The Landscape Maintenance Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily field execution, quality control, and productivity of landscape maintenance and mowing crews. This position ensures that crews execute scheduled routes efficiently while meeting Hemington's aesthetic, horticultural, and safety standards.

This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of landscape maintenance best practices, and the ability to coach crews to consistently high performance.

This position reports to the Operations Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Production Management

  • Execute daily routes and schedules established by the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure properties are serviced to Hemington's landscape and horticultural standards.
  • Monitor route efficiency and labor hours to maintain production targets.
  • Conduct regular site audits to proactively identify quality issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve route planning and profitability.

Crew Leadership & Training

  • Manage, train, and mentor maintenance crew leaders and crew members.
  • Conduct daily morning huddles at 6:00 AM to review schedules, safety topics, and sitespecific needs.
  • Provide ongoing field training in mowing, edging, pruning, and general horticultural practices.
  • Address onsite crew challenges and ensure professional conduct at all job sites.

Quality Control & Equipment Oversight

  • Inspect turf quality, pruning consistency, bed cleanliness, and site presentation.
  • Ensure proper mowing height, clean striping patterns, and precise edging.
  • Oversee equipment loading, maintenance, and yard organization to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure damaged or broken equipment is tagged, reported, and routed for repair.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings.
  • Respond promptly to injuries, vehicle incidents, or property damage.
  • Complete required incident reports within designated timeframes.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly operations meetings.
  • Support upsell opportunities by identifying enhancement needs in the field.
  • Other duties assigned by operations leadership.

Experience / Job Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a favorable DMV record.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial landscape maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a crew leader or supervisor.
  • Strong plant identification skills and horticultural knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of mowing, pruning, turf, and bed maintenance practices.
  • Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Certificate (QAC) highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable coaching, developing, and holding teams accountable.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills strongly preferred.
