We're Hemington a family-oriented contractor specializing in commercial landscape, concrete, and park construction since 1984. Based in Cameron Park, we serve the greater Sacramento area and take pride in building great projectsand great teams.

We're currently seeking a bilingual Human Resources Specialist to support and elevate our people operations. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and is passionate about employee development, compliance, and creating a strong, safe workplace culture.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience within California-based companies, with solid knowledge of CA labor laws and compliance requirements.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish at a C1/native proficiency level in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Tech-savvy and highly comfortable using AI tools, HR software platforms, and learning management systems.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a people-first ethic.
- Industry experience in construction, landscaping, or other service sectors preferred.
Core Responsibilities
Employee Development & Training
- Coordinate and deliver onboarding and orientation programs.
- Create and implement job-specific technical training.
- Maintain and enhance our internal training platform, Hemington University powered by On3.
- Manage LMS systems, document training progress, and ensure timely course completions.
Safety & Compliance
- Administer and promote the company's safety program.
- Track and report safety incidents; support investigations and resolutions.
- Oversee workers' compensation claim processes.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal safety training standards.
- Maintain safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives.
General HR Support
- Assist with full-cycle recruitment: job postings, screening, interviews, and offers.
- Maintain accurate job descriptions and org charts.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, and retention strategies.
- Manage employee inquiries and confidential HR documentation.
- Ensure policy compliance and support audit readiness.
Performance Targets
- 100% completion rate of mandatory trainings.
- Timely safety incident documentation and reporting (within 24 hours).
- 30-day resolution goal for workers' comp claims.
- 70%+ employee Net Promoter Score (ENPS).
- Zero compliance violations in audits.
